Handling
The notes printed on every box, in full.
Storage
Keep cool and dry. Charcoal draws moisture from the air; a damp briquette lights badly and smokes. Leave the boxes closed until they are used.
Children
Keep out of the reach of children. Lit charcoal stays dangerous long after the glow has faded from sight.
Lighting
Use an electric lighter or a charcoal starter. Never spirit, petrol, lighter fluid or any other flammable liquid — not to start it, and not to revive it.
Indoors
Indoors only with an extractor or an open flue. Burning charcoal produces carbon monoxide: it has no smell and gives no warning. Never use it in a closed room, a tent or a vehicle.
Burns
Never touch glowing charcoal with bare hands. Use tongs. Keep the bowl, the grill and the ash out of reach while they are hot.
Ash
Dispose of ash and leftover charcoal only once fully cooled — in a metal container, never in a paper or plastic bin. Embers can stay alive for hours under the ash.
